The Adjutores Dei was introduced to Calapan, Oriental Mindoro on October 22 – 24, 1980 by the team of the Diocese of San Pablo. Right after the first seminar that they conducted, the Santo Niño Parish of Calapan under the then Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Paul Scholl, SVD, immediately organized its own team. The first Parochial Moderator and Vice Moderator were Tito Eddie Infantado and Tito Ness Lopez, respectively. The newly organized Calapan Team conducted its first concilium in January, 1981. there were all in all seven concilia in 1981.
From then on, the youth movement was propagated in all the parishes of the Diocese of Calapan and even outside the province. In 1982, Tito Ness Lopez was appointed Parochial Moderator when Tito Eddie infantado was elevated to the Diocesan Chairmanship of the AD.
In 1984, Tito Eddie was appointed Diocesan Chairman of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement and Tito Ness became the Diocesan Chairman of the AD. Tita Tessie Gines succeeded him at the Parochial level.
The Adjutores Dei had a very sad exit from the formation scene in 1994, not only in the parochial but also at the Diocesan level. Some commented that it died a natural death but Tita Tessie Gines thought otherwise, “It was murdered”. They said, it no longer coincided nor jived with the Youth Program of the Church.
But the Adjutores Dei did not really die because the young and older Adjutorians persistently held on (even without the seminars). They tirelessly met each other and became a never-ending Adjutores Dei. Regrettably, many treasured photographs were destroyed by the floods in 2005.
Here are some photographic remnants of the anniversary celebrations of the Adjutores Dei.
